REACH Behavior and Development Center staff celebrating winner of Autism got talent

REACH sheds the spotlight on Autism Talent with National Contest

REACH holds Autism’s Got Talent Award Ceremony for winners of the nationwide contest highlighting talents of individuals on the spectrum

In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, REACH Behavior and Development Center in collaboration with Bahrain Autism Association invited members of the public to participate in Autism’s Got Talent by submitting their work to be showcased.

The talent competition took place throughout the month of April, in honor of Autism Acceptance Month, and it aims to shed the spotlight and celebrate the talents of people with autism across the country.

Participants of Autism’s Got Talent recorded  videos of themselves performing unique skills or talents, or a piece of art, and submitted their artwork for a panel to review and select the Grand Winners. REACH is proud to announce Sanad Al Waari, as the Winner in the Art Category, and Mohammed Saeed Al Hulaibi, as the Winner in the Music Category. Sanad will have his artworks displayed and sold in The Art Space Online Gallery. Mohammed has received 1 month of classes sponsored by the renowned Bahrain Music Institute.

It is vital to provide a platform for individuals within the spectrum to showcase their abilities and strengths, since this whole concept is based solely on inclusion and acceptance and there needs to be more, which is why we have started this initiative. This contest will give people the opportunity to take part in a growing movement towards autism acceptance.

Founder and CEO Mona Tadayon shares, “Acceptance from society at large is needed to help them thrive. Let’s make awareness, education, inclusivity and most importantly…acceptance our goal.

With this stepping stone, we aim to continue to provide a safe haven for individuals  on the spectrum  year by year and we want all those involved to have fun, do what they love, make friends and have the chance to be themselves. The purpose of this contest is to go beyond recognition, and to foster these talents further. Thank you to all the sponsors who have made these children’s lives develop their unique skills and talent.”

REACH is also celebrating this important cause with an autism acceptance campaign which sheds light on the difficulties faced by children with autism  in daily life, you can check out the video on our social media page, and has launched a Schools Visit Campaign, which members of the REACH Clinical Team has visited schools across Bahrain to spread awareness on Autism Acceptance.
