Empowering Families with Effective ABA Therapy for Autism, ADHD, Language and Development Delays

REACH Behavior & Development Center is the first center in Bahrain to become a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE) and to become a Continued Education Units (CEU) provider by the International Behavior Analyst Organization (IBAO).

Autism Spectrum Disorders affect as many as 1 out of every 54 children and can present unique challenges for parents and children alike. REACH Behavior and Development Center specializes in partnering with families to develop the skills and strategies that enable their children to be happy and independent.

We offer a wide range of direct and consultative services for children with developmental delays and their families. Our comprehensive programs strive to foster your child’s independence in areas including communication, social skills, behavior, cognitive functioning, and life skills.

We work with schools and families to serve children of all ages. We see children with a range of learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and more.

Take the First Step

REACH Behavior and Development Center is the first in Bahrain to be designated as an approved Continued Education Units (CEU) provider. This enables us to provide continued education to those with their IBT and IBA certifications.

Our Therapy Services

ABA Therapy +

REACH Behavior Therapists provide direct therapy which is guided by individualised treatment programs. These are developed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA/IBA), based on a variety of student assessment results (e.g., VB-MAPP, FBA, AIM, ESDM, Vineland), direct observations, and input/feedback from parents, school and/or therapists. Additionally, behavior analysts and behavior therapists will work with parents, family members, or school staff on the implementation of ABA strategies to facilitate the generalization of skills and to maximize the student’s opportunities for learning.

Our diverse team of therapists will work hand in hand with the child on decreasing behavioral excesses such as maladaptive or stereotypic behaviors, as well as building skills across all domains including:

Speech and Functional Communication

Functional Behavior Assessment

Positive Behavior Support Plans

Pre-academic and Academic Skills

Daily Living Skills

Social Skills and Play Skills

Self-Regulation

Fine and Gross Motors Skills

Food Acceptance

Occupational Therapy +

Occupational therapy focuses on various cognitive, physical, and motor skills, with the aim of improving a child’s daily life through play-based therapy. Our Occupational Therapists provide assistance to families and children from infancy to adolescence, focusing on areas such as sensory processing, self-regulation, gross and fine motor coordination, visual perception, visual motor and handwriting skills, independent self-care, feeding skills, and play.

The main goal of OT is to help children achieve age-appropriate independence and participate more fully in life. To begin the therapy process, a certified Occupational Therapist assesses the child’s developmental level and sets goals based on the evaluation. The therapist then selects strategies and techniques that will help enhance the child’s critical skills. The OT intervention includes various areas such as:

Sensory integration (vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile and auditory systems)

Hand functions and grasp including pencil grip, scissor skills

Oral motor system

Fine motor skills

Gross motor skills

Cognition and perception

Executive functioning skills

Speech and Language Therapy +

Our Speech and Language Therapy program provides life-changing treatment for children who have difficulties with communication, eating, drinking, and swallowing.

Speech Therapy exercises and activities vary depending on your child’s disorder, age, and needs. During the therapy, the SLP may interact through talking and playing, using books, pictures, and other objects as a part of language intervention to help stimulate development. This can also include modeling correct sounds and syllables for the child during age appropriate play to teach them how to make certain sounds and provide strategies for the parents on how to support their child at home.

Our highly trained Speech Therapist works with parents to assess and treat children with speech, language, and communication impairments. The range of services includes:

Fluency Disorders

Articulation and Phonological Disorders

Functional Voice Disorders

Receptive and Expressive Language

Cognitive Communication Disorders

Dyslexia

Consultation for Dysphagia and oral/motor disorders

Social Skills +

We provide social skills training to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. The focus of the program is to increase the child’s overall ability to:

• Recognize and interpret verbal and non-verbal communication.

• Develop appropriate peer relationships.

• Assist individuals with improvement in social interactions by expanding their interest in age-appropriate topics, toys, and play skills.

• Increase their ability to recognize the emotions of others.

• The goal is to minimize the stress and anxiety when participating in social interaction. The program strives to provide the tools necessary for successful interpretation of social and communication skills.

This program focuses on teaching parents, teachers and other caregivers how to effectively decrease a child’s disruptive behavior and increase compliance and other appropriate behaviors.

Adaptive & Social Skills +

The focus of the social skills training program is to increase the child’s overall ability to:

Recognize and interpret verbal and non-verbal communication
Develop appropriate peer relationships
Increase their ability to recognize the emotions of others
Assist individuals with improvement in social interactions by expanding their interest in age appropriate topics, toys and play skills

The goal is to minimize stress and anxiety when participating in social interaction. The program strives to provide the tools necessary for the successful interpretation of social and communication skills.

We provide weekly training and supervision in school and collaborate with teachers to best support children’s skill development at school.

Parent, Caregiver and Shadow Training +

Outside of treatment, it is important for parents and other caregivers to have the ability and techniques to reinforce the skills their child learns in therapy by incorporating them into daily routines. As with any skill, practice is critical. Parents actively involved in their child’s therapy often increase the progress made by their children. Our treatment plans include the appropriate parent participation and training to ensure they can reinforce their child’s development beyond the therapy setting. We also provide training for school shadows when needed.

Family & Community Support

At REACH we strive to provide a warm, supportive environment to both the children and the families we serve. It’s overwhelming to process a new diagnosis but you don’t have to do it alone. We help provide resources to those new to the diagnosis and families in need of further support.

virtual-training

Telehealth Consultation Support

We provide video based consultation sessions between the parent and a member of the REACH team. After a brief check in, consultation sessions will focus on coaching a family through positive interaction during an identified routine. Feedback and ways to continue daily practice will be discussed in the debrief.
